VIS Program Info
Program Information & Requirements
Visual Studies has replaced the previous Fine Art Studio program (FAS). Students in the FAS program= requiring credits should select courses from the VIS program to complete the FAS program requirements.
Visual Studies courses, except VIS 120H and VIS 130H, are normally only available to students enroled in our Specialist, Major and Minor programs. Visual Studies is a Type Two program with admission requirements, students must successfully complete both Visual Studies Foundation courses (VIS120 and VIS130) earning at least 70% in each before applying for admission to Visual Studies. Once invited into Visual Studies as a Minor, Major or Specialist, VIS students are then able to enroll in Visual Studies upper year courses.
Specialist Program
First year:
- VIS 120H, FAH 102H, and VIS 130H
Higher years :
- 10 full courses to include:
- 1) 14 half-courses in VIS
- 2) VIS 401 and VIS 402, Thesis Text/Critique; Thesis project
- 3) 3 other FAH half course (in
addition to
FAH 102H)
Major Program
First year:
- VIS 120H, VIS 130H
Higher years :
- 5 full courses to include:
- 1) 10 half-courses in VIS, including at least two 300+level courses

NOTE: No more than 13 FAH, FAS/VIS full courses may be taken in
combination.
Minor Program
First year:
-
VIS 120H,
VIS 130H
Higher years
- 3 full courses to include:
- 1) 6 half-courses in VIS, including at least two half courses at the 300+level
- NOTE: No more than 4 full courses may be taken in a Minor Subject Post
- VIS Minors are not permitted to enroll in Independent courses, or in Thesis
